19th March is the Roman Festival of Quinquatrus, In ancient Roman religion, the Quinquatria or Quinquatrus was a festival in honour and sacred to the Goddess Minerva and celebrated from the 19-23 of March. Minerva was the Virgin Roman goddess of healing, poetry, music, wisdom, clairvoyance, weaving, commerce, warriors. In images she is often seen with an owl, which was her sacred creator and in western culture is associated with wisdom and is often confused with the Greek Goddess Diana. It is believed both Goddesses shared a similar background to the Greek Goddess Athena. It is thought this cult came to Europe via Eturia. For this reason images of all three goddesses, Minerva, Athena and Diana often appear very similar. 

In North American Indian culture the Owl is associated with clairvoyance, deception and illumination. It is often referred to as the Night Eagle. 

Cybele - another Roman Goddess

Also in ancient Rome, the followers of Cybele believed their goddess had a consort who had been born of a virgin birth. His name was Attis. He is said to have died and was resurrected each year during the time of the spring equinox (between March 20th and March 25).
