This chakra has two elements. The lower heart governs the physical heart and our ability to love ourselves and others Coloured Green and the higher heart which is magenta pink and governs our ability to feel and demonstrate unconditional love and compassion for all. It connects the lower chakras with the higher chakras. The psychical with the spiritual.

Location: Centre of the chest under the breastbone

Governs: Empathy for others. Relationship to Self, sense of purpose.

Developmental Age: 12 – 16 years old. Learning to love others.

Sense: Touch

Psychic Function: Emotional Plane. Empathy. Understanding of others feelings and motives.

Glands / Organs: Thymus, heart, circulatory system, arms, hands, and lungs. Governs heart and lung function. We cannot live without oxygen and breathing and heart function go together to pump life force through the physical body, making life possible.

Concerns: Compassion, unconditional love, vulnerability, tenderness, detachment, hurt, bitterness, courage, passion, forgiveness

Out of Balance: Inability to give or receive love. Expectations of others, inability to love (or, at least, accept) yourself.

Body Symptoms: Heart and vascular disease, diseases of the immune system, (allergies, cancer, aids, me)

Qualities & Lessons: Divine/unconditional love. Forgiveness, compassion, understanding, balance, group consciousness, oneness with life, acceptance, peace, openness, harmony contentment

Negative Qualities: Repression of love, emotional instability, out of balance.

Psychological: The Will to live with a sense of purpose and direction is a spiritual and psychological matter translated into physical activity. Feeling compassion for yourself and others aids decision-making processes. It links the higher and lower chakras. When the heart it balanced the body, mind and spirit is balanced.
