30th Aprl is International Jazz Day and if you like Jazz then you listen everyday. If you don’t know if you like it or not perhaps this would be a good time to find a jazz station on the radio and have a listen.
Today the world can celebrate the cultural and educational contribution jazz made in breaking down race and gender barriers around the world, as well as promoting cooperation, mutual understanding, communication, peace and freedom.
International Awareness
The day aims to spread international awareness about this unique musical style; and to promote the cultural, and social values that Jazz stands for.
The initiative resulting in the creation of International Jazz Day came from American Jazz pianist, composer, Herbie Hancock who was also a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Intercultural Dialogues.
