World Rabies Day

28th September is World Rabies Day. Dedicated to the elimination and prevention of Rabies this day was chosen because it commemorates the death of Louis Pasteur who developed the first rabies vaccination.

Further Information

The first World Rabies Day was in 2006 and each year there is a new theme. They are, however, all geared to the eradication of Rabies by 2030.

For a full description of the concept behind this year’s theme, see here

World Rabies Day is the first and only global day of action and awareness for rabies prevention. It is an opportunity to unite as a community - helping individuals, NGOs and governments to connect and share their work.
