Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year.  The Hebrew calendar started at the time of Creation, placed at 3761 BCE making this current year is 5780 In the Hebrew calendar. It is celebrated as the day of Creation or the birthday of the universe. It is also the anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve and the coronation of God as King as well as a day of judgment.

It is celebrated with lighting candles, festive meals and prayers, including the sounding of the Shofar (the ram’s horn). It is believed that what people do and think and feel on this day will impact the rest of the comping year.
